Brief description of the line of research:
Exercise and Cancer
We think lifestyle changes can potentially improve the health of people with cancer. In this context, we are investigating the influence of an exercise-based prehabilitation and post-surgical program, nutritional counseling, and psychological support on clinical prognosis, functional capacity, and quality of life in patients undergoing colon cancer resection. In parallel, we have projects investigating how physical exercise can improve bone health in cancer survivors.
Exercise in Women
There is currently a high prevalence of middle-aged women who manifest symptoms related to psychological distress. We believe that a change in lifestyle in middle-aged women at risk of psychological morbidity, including physical exercise, could improve their emotional and physical health. In this context, in the Exer-WAPA project, we are investigating the effect of a supervised physical exercise program based on group physical conditioning with musical support on the emotional well-being and general health of middle-aged women at risk of psychological morbidity in order to promote its practice as a preventive strategy for the development of more severe psychological, affective and mood disorders
