Summary

The Red Iberoamericana de Investigación en Desplazamiento Activo, Salud y Sostenibilidad (RIIDASS)/ Iberoamerican Research Network on active commuting, health and sustainability has the mission of bringing together and support national and international researchers who address and investigate active commuting in children, youth and adults, as a form of transportation sustainability, contributing to the social and individual development of people, improving the active lifestyles and promoting healthy habits.

The objectives of RIIDASS are:

• Promote collaboration between participating researchers in the implementation of social and community intervention strategies, aimed at promoting active commuting, health and sustainability in children, adolescents and adults.·
• Generate a web page (the budget received will be invested here) that favors and allows: a) communication, as well as the exchange of information and data between members of the network to reflect on different methodological aspects. That is, analyze the relevance of the different designs and methods used in intervention projects at the level of the environment, the role and involvement of the research groups and b) collect, analyze and debate the multi-level and multi-component interventions. That is, interventions that involve all agents and actors responsible for promoting active-healthy lifestyles throughout the life cycle, with an ecological model that addresses the different determinants of physical activity, and more specifically, active commuting, health and sustainability.·
• Be recognized as a network that can guide, advise and evaluate projects that promote active mobility and sustainable transport, based on experience and prior knowledge, the result of research carried out by the researchers who make up the network.·        Prepare a report/guide that determines the patterns, descriptive characteristics and barriers of the mode of active commuting, health and sustainability. Guaranteeing the needs of future generations without giving up the three essential pillars: environmental protection, social development and economic growth.·
• Incorporate the promotion of active commuting, health and sustainability in educational and work projects, in order to promote human development and improve the quality of life of those who study or work there, and at the same time, train them to act as ecological models.
