An international project led by the PROFITH group of the UGR will design personalized physical exercise to prevent cognitive decline

Researchers from the PROFITH group lead a European project to prevent cognitive decline with personalized physical exercise

The PROFITH group of the University of Granada coordinates the international project TEIDe, funded with 2 million euros by the European Union, whose objective is to develop tools that allow primary care physicians to prescribe physical exercise adapted to each patient in order to prevent dementia.

The consortium, made up of nine institutions from eight countries, will analyze what type, intensity, and duration of exercise are most effective according to each person’s profile (age, sex, physical condition, or cognitive status). This will lead to the creation of predictive algorithms, clinical guidelines, and digital resources that bring scientific evidence closer to health centers.

The initiative, coordinated by researcher Irene Esteban-Cornejo (UGR and ibs.GRANADA), seeks to implement a model of personalized and accessible prevention that strengthens the cognitive health of the population and facilitates the work of health professionals.
