🏆 NAOS Strategy Awards 2026: INTERAPNEA and PREFIT reinforce leadership
The INTERAPNEA and PREFIT projects, NAOS Strategy Awards 2026.
The University of Granada has been recognized with four distinctions in the 19th NAOS Strategy Awards, which recognize outstanding initiatives in the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity. Among the recognized projects, two lines closely linked to iMUDS, INTERAPNEA and PREFIT, consolidate the Institute as a benchmark in research in sport and health.
In the healthcare or sociosanitary field, the INTERAPNEA project, developed by the University of Granada and Loyola Andalucía University and led by Dr. Almudena Carneiro Barrera, has been awarded for its interdisciplinary intervention aimed at the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea through weight loss and the improvement of lifestyles. The initiative stands out for its integrative approach, combining physical exercise, nutrition, sleep hygiene and habit modification.
On the other hand, the Spanish Coalition for a Fit Childhood has received a 2nd runner-up prize in the school field for a line of research focused on the assessment of physical fitness at early ages, closely connected to the PREFIT project, led by Dr. Cristina Cadenas-Sánchez. This work has contributed decisively to advancing knowledge on physical fitness and health in children aged 3 to 5 years.
These recognitions reinforce the role of iMUDS as a reference space for projects of high scientific and social impact, capable of generating useful knowledge for the prevention of obesity and the promotion of health from childhood to adulthood.
