🏆 Cristina Cadenas-Sánchez Awarded the Clara Campoamor National Research Prize 2026
The Spanish Ministry of Science recognises our researcher as a leading figure in child wellbeing research.
The PROFITH group is thrilled to announce that our colleague Cristina Cadenas-Sánchez has been awarded the 2026 Clara Campoamor National Research Prize for Young Investigators, in the area of Law, Economics and Social Sciences, granted by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
This prize, endowed with €30,000, recognises outstanding contributions by researchers whose careers are still in a consolidation phase. The Ministry highlighted Cristina’s trajectory in the social sciences, describing her as a leading figure in research applied to child wellbeing.
Cristina’s work focuses on understanding how physical activity and exercise can improve the health of children, adolescents and people with chronic diseases, with a particular focus on obesity prevention and its complications. This award adds to her growing list of international accolades, including the Rising Star Award from the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, the Young Investigator Award from the European Association for the Study of Obesity, and the Andaluces del Futuro prize.
Cristina is currently in Australia, working with researcher Grant R. Tomkinson to establish the Global Youth Fitness Alliance, an initiative aimed at improving children’s health through physical fitness.
